Unsaturated fats such as olive oil, avocado, walnuts, almonds and fish oil should be preferred. Solid fats such as margarine and animal fat should be avoided.
One whole egg a day is generally safe for heart patients. Although egg yolk contains cholesterol, it is highly nutritious.
Oats, barley, legumes, walnuts, almonds, salmon, olive oil and green leafy vegetables have cholesterol-lowering effects.
